Brink-Reckermann win the gold medal in London

The final game between Alison-Emanuel from Brazil and Brink-Reckermann from Germany was decided in 3 intensive sets. After a very tight first set that went to Brink-Reckermann on a score of 23-21, the second set saw the brazilian team come back in the game to decide this set clearly 21-16.

The gold medal therefore had to be played in a 3rd set which saw the german team take a big option on the gold medal by a score of 12-8. But the living legend Emanuel Rego played some strong breakpoints in the attack to tight the score once again at 14-14. But the final coolness of the german led them finally win on a score of 16-14.

Congratulations to Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann for their first olympic gold against the brazilian top team, as well as to Alison-Emanuel for the silver medal, where it was 39 years old Emanuels 5th participation at the olympic games, beginning at the 1996 games in Atlanta where Beachvolleyball was declared olympic sport for the first time.

The Bronze medal finally goes to the team from Latvia, Martins Plavins and Janis Smedins, who won against Nummerdor-Schuil in a very tight game in 3 sets. After each winning a set 21-19, the two teams had to go in the tie-break where the nervosity of the dutch team, combined to the fact that Plavins-Smedins made not one single error on their services, saw the latvian team winning the 3rd set 15-11.

Great Show in London - alread looking forward to the 2013 World Championships in Poland.
