Luxembourg, June 4, 2011. Ten years after assuming the leadership and management of the CEV headquarters in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, CEV Administrative Director Olivier Mottier has decided to leave the European Volleyball Confederation to go back to his home country, Switzerland, in order to stay closer to his family and explore there some other professional challenges, expressing his wish to stay in contact with the Volleyball family. Mr. Thorsten Endres of Germany will take over his position but there will be a transition as Mr. Mottier will be fully responsible for the organization of the XXXII CEV General Assembly scheduled for next September 16-17 in Vienna and supporting his follower until October 1 in order to assure the needed transfer of knowledge and the smooth run of all future operations. “I have to thank Mr. Mottier for his dedication and all the work he performed in the past 10 years” says CEV President AndrĂ© Meyer. “We basically started our adventure together after my election at the CEV General Assembly held in Ostrava back in 2001 and since then our Confederation – and hence also our head office – have been going through a massive development. We understand his intention to go back to Switzerland and re-join his family, and I wish him all the best for his future there. As for Mr. Endres, he is a well known personality in our Volleyball community, as he joined the European Cups Commission 3 years ago and has been since working as Supervisor for many of our competitions. Moreover, as member of the FIVB Sports Events Council, he got an extensive knowledge of Volleyball and we should not forget that as Managing Director he has been fostering a tremendous development of the German Volleyball League in the past few years. We defini tely opted for the right person for the management of our office as well as to support the work of our institutional organs”.
“It is a great challenge” says Mr. Endres, “and I am looking forward to the start of this adventure. I have got mixed feelings as I leave the German Volleyball League”. This is no wonder as he greatly and predominantly contributed to the establishment of this organization 5 years ago, with all figures – especially in terms of spectators’ attendance – having boomed across the many venues where games of the Bundesliga as well as of the national cup have been held.
