Beachvolley Indoor: Training sessions continue...

As for several weekends now on, a small group of 6 passionate beachvolleyplayers did, once again, take the time, two weeks ago, to travel to Niederkassel for some pre-season training sessions in the Indoor-Beachvolley-Hall.

But this time we wanted to try something new: a short Training-camp of two days.

So we left Luxembourg on Saturday 14:00 to be in Niederkassel right in time for the first training unit from 17:00 to 19:00, after checking in, in the hotel.

After the first practice, we spent the evening in an excellent Italian trattoria (Il Grappolo - Marktstrasse, 11 - Rheidt), before going to bed quite early.

On second day, the serious one, we did a first training unit from 10:00 to 12:00 and a second one from 13:00 to 15:00.

These 6 hours of training were quite demanding, but the intensity was well chosen for everybody to keep going just to the end. There were exercises to improve technique, without forgetting gameplay.

We all agreed that the 2-day-formula optimizes the relation between the travelling-time and the time on the beachcourts, and is finally more relaxing.

So, more weekends like this will probably follow.

A new entry has been made in the Beachcourts-List:

The club of Beckerich has at its disposal two beachcourts just near the sports hall.

New update of the Tournament Calendar

The Club of Esch had to change his traditional Tournament-date from 1st weekend of August to the weekend of 25th and 26th July.
For this reason, Walferdange had also to adapt and decided to organize their 2nd Mixed- and Hobby-Tournament on 19th and 20th July 2008.

The Tournament of Wilwerwiltz stays unchanged on the date of 8th and 9th August.

It's unbelievable, but Carlo Mach has left us

It's with a great sadness I heared that, two days ago, Carlo Mach went to sleep from which he should never stay up again.

Carlo was a real sportsman, with complete commitment and a perfect life discipline and this way the perfect example for the younger generation. Regardless of his numerous successes in Volleyball-Championship, he never showed the slightest sign of arrogance.

Besides his passion and quite legendary successes in Volleyball, he also was a great Beachvolleyballplayer.

Carlo, I am honored to have had the occasion to play against you on a Beachcourt. I appreciated a lot your discrete way and your friendliness.

I wish you a very sunny Beachcourt up there on cloud number nine.

To all the familiy and friends of Carlo, my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy.

First tournament dates 2008 have been fixed !!

Even if the beachvolley season starts only in April / May for most of people in Luxembourg, the clubs have to think about organisation as early as possible. So the first dates of tournaments in Luxembourg have already been released:

05 - 06 July:
The VC Bonnevoie will organise the Beach-As 2008 with a 2x2 tournament on saturday and a 4x4 Hobby-Tournament on Sunday.

02 - 03 August:
As every year the almost traditional Luxembourg Beach Open for 4x4 Hobby-Teams will be played on the 1st week-end of August

09 - 10 August:
Big fun guaranteed at the most northern Beachvolley-Tournament in Luxembourg. On Saturday a 2x2 Mixed-Tournament will see a lot of good players in a very relaxed mood. The second day a 4x4 Hobby-Tournament will follow.
Be sure not to miss the nearly olympic swimming-pool, the mobile Cocktail-Bar and the really big party !!

Very useful to plan the beachvolley sessions here in Luxembourg where nothing is less sure than sunny weather.
